Construction Process

Cut the mesoporous insulation roll before construction. For the cutting length, you can measure the pipe length with a tape measure or iron wire, and shall consider the axial lap joint size of 30~50mm. The cutting length is pipe circumference + lap joint size; it is necessary to measure the size before cutting for construction of each layer, and arbitrary construction is not allowed.

For each section of mesoporous insulation rolls laid, the position of the horizontal axial lap joint shall not be arranged within the range of 90° on the left and right of and above the perpendicular centerlines of the pipe. As shown in Figure 1 below, the position of the axial lap joint is within the range of 90° below the centerlines. Figure 2 shows the axial lap joint. The insulation materials are overlapped from top to bottom. The whole circle of mesoporous insulation materials need to be pressed with a certain force to make them cling to the outer wall of the pipe so as to avoid gaps as much as possible. The lap joints need to be pressed tightly, and their position and direction for each section of mesoporous insulation materials in the same layer shall be consistent.

For each section of mesoporous insulation materials, firstly fix the starting end with galvanized iron wire (Φ0.5mm or Φ1mm) or steel strapping without looseness, and then fix the other end on the pipe in the same way. The circumferential joint of each section of insulation materials shall be neat and free of inclination. Then bundle the middle part of each section of mesoporous insulation materials, usually 20~30mm each, and not less than 4 positions for the whole section of insulation materials. For any bulge or looseness, reinforced bundling shall be carried out, and the bundling joints shall be at the axial lap joints.

No circumferential joints have to be overlapped, but when laying mesoporous insulation materials during construction, it is necessary to extrude the circumferential joints to ensure that there is no gap.

After construction of each layer of mesoporous insulation materials, the materials can be fixed on the pipe with glass cloth by spiral winding method. The winding direction shall be consistent with the overlapping direction of the insulation materials, and the winding shall be smooth. The overlapping size of glass cloth shall be about 1/2 of its width. It is recommended to use glass cloth with a width of 50cm.

For construction of double-layer or multi-layer mesoporous insulation materials, they shall be bundled layer by layer, and the lap joints shall be staggered in the inner and outer layers, as shown in Figure 3. The distance between axial lap joint positions of two adjacent layers shall not be less than 200mm, as shown in Figure 4.

※ For the composite insulation structure, the traditional insulation materials of the outer layer can be constructed by referring to the construction method of the insulation materials above, and the joints shall be extruded in the same layer and staggered in the inner and outer layers.

※ When it is required to cover the reflective aluminum foil fiberglass cloth according to the design, a layer of aluminum foil fiberglass cloth can be covered every two layers of mesoporous insulation materials, and can also be covered at the specified layer according to the design requirements. At this time, the winding of glass cloth can be canceled and replaced by the winding of aluminum foil fiberglass cloth, the winding method is similar to that of glass cloth, and the reflective surface (bright side) of the aluminum foil fiberglass cloth must face inwards.
